Maronite Bishops held their monthly meeting in Bkirki and issued a press release in which they said that they attentively follow the issue of reconciliation and they hope more efforts are made toward this goal. They hope dialogue succeeds since the general situation requires some kind of relief so that Lebanon can calmly and successfully retrieve its path and reinforce confidence among its citizens and friends.

Monsignor Youssef Tawk read the press release after the meeting and said, “The bishops were relieved to hear President Michel Sleiman’s speeches in the United Nations and at the Francophone Summit in Canada which intended to adopt Lebanon as the center for dialogue between religions, cultures and ethnicities.

This project if allowed would give Lebanon its true identity and reinforce its role and mission in its surrounding and in the world, as a country where various religions interact and talk.”

“ Some employees who were removed from their posts and were still paid visited us and asked to be returned to their posts after the judicial system said they were innocent. Their request is rightful,” Tawk also said.

وتمنى المطارنة في بيان تلا اجتماعهم الشهري، ان ينجح الحوار المستأنف "فالوضع العام يقضي بان يكون هناك انفراج ليستأنف لبنان مسيرته بهدوء ونجاح وتتعزز ثقة أبنائه وأصدقائه به".

وتلقى مجلس الاساقفة بارتياح ما انطوت عليه كلمة رئيس الجمهورية ميشال سليمان في الجمعية العامة للامم المتحدة، وفي قمة الفرنكوفونية في كندا، والرامية الى اعتماد لبنان مركزا للحوار بين الاديان والثقافات والحضارات والاثنيات، معتبرين ان هذا المشروع اذا ما اتيح له ان يتحقق يعطي لبنان هويته الحقيقية ويكرس دوره ورسالته في محيطه وفي العالم، كبلد تلتقي فيه وتتفاعل وتتحاور مختلف الاديان والمعتقدات.

واضاف: "جاءنا بعض كبار الموظفين الذين أوقفوا عن مزاولة وظائفهم وهم لا يزالون يتقاضون عليها اجرا، وطالبوا بارجاعهم اليها لان القضاء برأ ساحتهم، وهذا مطلب حق".
